Accredited firms are audited by independent third party organizations to assure that the firm meets specific quality and ethical standards. Accreditation is not currently required by Medicare and only a small minority of providers have voluntarily chosen to take the lead in giving their patients this level of assured quality.

- Do they have emergency service? Will they be there if you need them after hours? Air-Care's staff is on-call 24/7.
- When you call the office do you get a recording or a real person?
- Do they have a respiratory therapist on staff?
- Do they service what they sell?

Aside from the network requirements of certain private insurance companies, you have the legal right to choose who will provide you with medical equipment and services and it is a violation of federal law for anyone to violate that right.
